About LIMA Counselling & Psychotherapy
Our Approach
We work from an integrative perspective, which means we draw on different therapeutic methods to meet your unique needs—whether you’re navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, major transitions, burnout, or just feeling stuck. Sessions are tailored, collaborative, and paced in a way that respects where you are emotionally and mentally. We believe therapy should be: Compassionate, but not passive Insightful, but not overwhelming Practical, but not rigid Above all, it should be a space where you feel safe to be yourself—messy parts and all.
Who We Work With
We work with adults and couples who are ready to go a little deeper—whether that means untangling long-held patterns, improving communication, healing past wounds, or just learning how to breathe again when life feels like too much. Clients often tell us they appreciate the balance we bring: thoughtful presence, grounded questions, and the ability to hold space without judgment. We don’t rush. We don’t force. We work with what’s real and go from there.

Here’s a quick overview of the types of therapy we offer:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): This approach focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. It’ll help you develop coping strategies to manage anxiety, depression, and stress effectively.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Originally developed for individuals with borderline personality disorder, DBT emphasizes the importance of emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and mindfulness. It’ll help you improve their relationships and emotional responses.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): ACT encourages you to accept your thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty about them. It helps you commit to personal values and take action toward meaningful goals.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy: This approach recognizes and respects the cultural backgrounds of clients, ensuring that therapy is relevant and effective within the context of your unique experiences and identities.
Positive Psychology: Focusing on strengths and positive experiences, this therapy promotes well-being and personal growth by helping you cultivate gratitude, resilience, and optimism.
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT): CFT aims to enhance feelings of self-compassion and compassion for others. It is particularly helpful if you are struggling with shame and self-criticism, fostering a sense of warmth and understanding.
